# Contxt > Contxt is an applied intelligence lab for art and culture. We research and distill data and discourse across institutions, themes and geographies. We make it legible to machines, and help humans map connections between artworks, artists, movements and ideas. ## What we do Contxt is structured around three practices: - **Index**: We aggregate, verify, and structure data and discourse on a subject — from a single exhibition to a decades-long archive — into a corpus humans and machines can query. - **Narrative**: We turn the index into meaning. Conversational, written, or threaded paths that reveal relationships across artworks, artists, movements and ideas. - **Analytics**: We study which ideas connect, which questions recur, and which sources still need to be read — and use the answer to improve both the index and how it is interpreted. ## Products Contxt builds two products grounded in the same practice, at two different scales. - [Contxt for Exhibitors](https://contxt.art/products/exhibitors): A workspace for museums, galleries and curators. Build a citation-ready archive, publish exhibitions and give visitors grounded conversational intelligence for their curiosity — in any language and at any knowledge level. Currently running with bitforms gallery as a public research preview; public signups open soon. - [Contxt Indexes](https://contxt.art/products/indexes): Bespoke conversational interfaces for large bodies of cultural knowledge. We research and aggregate exhibition histories, large-scale events, city data, historic archives, and publishing histories — and turn them into a bespoke interface designed for the people who will use it. Currently live for Venice (Biennale) and New York (Art Week). ## Live Indexes - [Contxt Venice](https://contxt.art/venice): An index of 208 exhibitions and 941 artists across Venice during the Biennale. Visitors ask Contxt about topics that interest them; the index recommends exhibitions based on their interests and serves the location data to get them there. Includes a FITZ & CO-curated selection led by Founder & CEO Sara Fitzmaurice, organizing the Biennale into thematic pathways including Art and Technology, Regional Spotlight: Asia, and FITZ Founder Favorites. - [Contxt New York](https://contxt.art/nyc): An index of 365 exhibitions across New York Art Week. Visitors ask Contxt about topics that interest them; the index recommends exhibitions based on their interests and serves the location data to get them there. ## Public Research Preview - [Contxt at bitforms](https://contxt.art/bitforms): Conversational intelligence spanning 25 years of bitforms gallery exhibition history, deployed on Contxt for Exhibitors. The full bitforms archive (150+ exhibitions across 25 years) is accessible through conversational AI — visitors can ask about an artist's practice or individual artworks and trace how themes evolved across decades of programming. ## Press - [Fad Magazine](https://fadmagazine.com/2026/05/01/contxt-venice-navigate-venice-biennale-2026/) - May 2026: "Contxt Venice feels less like a guidebook and more like a new curatorial tool - one that could fundamentally change how large-scale art events are experienced." - [Observer](https://observer.com/2026/04/arts-interview-lukas-amacher-ai-app-museum-galleries/) - April 2026: Christa Terry interviews co-founder Lukas Amacher on building a chatbot for the art world. - [Outland](https://outlandart.substack.com/p/from-blogs-to-bots) - April 2026: Sarah Hromack traces the arc from museum blogs to AI interpretation tools, placing Contxt among the startups using generative AI to guide visitors through artworks in the gallery and beyond. ## News - [Contxt and FITZ & CO launch geo-intelligence for Venice](https://contxt.art/blog/contxt-fitz-venice-launch): May 1, 2026 - Announcement.
